Overheard my neighbor talking to his cat about my lawn care

So I was out watering my new Kentucky bluegrass sod last Saturday morning, and I hear my neighbor Larry through the fence saying to his cat 'see, if we had that kind of dedication, Mittens, we'd have a garden too.' The cat just meowed back at him, and I laughed so hard I nearly sprayed myself in the face. It got me thinking: do any of you ever pick up random life advice from eavesdropping on people's one-sided conversations with pets? What's the weirdest thing you've overheard that actually made you consider changing something?

Ha! That's hilarious. I used to think people talking to their pets was just weird. Like, why bother? They don't understand you. But then I caught my neighbor telling his dog he was proud of him for not chewing the fence. Something about the way he said it made me realize it's not about the pet understanding. It's about saying stuff out loud so you actually hear it yourself. Now I talk to my plants. Weirdest thing but it actually works.

Yeah for real! I started talking to my car when it was making that weird noise. Told it "come on buddy you can make it home" and sure enough it did. Sounds insane typing it out but I swear it helped me calm down and focus on driving smooth instead of panicking. My wife caught me once and asked if I was praying to the check engine light. Now I talk to my coffee maker in the morning too. It's just nice to have a one sided conversation that doesn't judge you back.

Man, you nearly sprayed yourself in the face? That's gold. I'd probably have done the same thing.
