Quick fix for a stripped screw on my bike rack saved me $60 in Denver last month

Honestly, I was about to toss my whole bike rack because the main bolt stripped out and wouldn't tighten. I tried a rubber band trick I saw on YouTube, but that slipped right off. Then a buddy told me to wrap a few layers of electrical tape around the bolt before threading it back in, and it held solid for my whole ride up to Lookout Mountain. Has anyone else found a random household item that actually saves a repair?

Oh man, electrical tape is such a SOLID trick for stripped threads. I've used that exact same fix on a couple of stubborn bolts on my deck furniture and it's never let me down. Just make sure you wrap it tight and even so the bolt doesn't cross thread on the way in. Another thing that's worked for me is a bit of super glue on the bolt threads let it dry for a minute before you thread it in gives it just enough grip to hold without making it a permanent weld.

Hold on, super glue on threads? @drew965 that sounds wild. I'd be terrified it'd lock the bolt in forever. Did you have to break it loose later?
