The year I chose between a flip phone and a smartphone back in 2007

Back in 2007 I had to pick between a basic flip phone with a 10 hour battery life or one of the first iPhones. I went with the flip phone because I thought the touchscreen was a gimmick and I didn't want to pay for data. Boy was I wrong. For the next 3 years I watched everyone around me use maps and email on the go while I struggled with printed directions. Has anyone else made a tech choice that bit them later?

Kicked myself for years over that exact same call. I grabbed a slider phone with a physical keyboard thinking touchscreens were a stupid fad. Ended up typing out directions from MapQuest on paper before every road trip like a caveman. Watching friends pull up restaurant reviews on the fly while I fumbled with a folded up printout was brutal. Tech moves fast and we all make bets that look dumb later.

Wait, @the_lucas, is there a support group for people who bet against the future and lost? I still have my old flip phone in a drawer like a trophy of bad decisions. At least we finally upgraded before they started making phones that fold again, right?
