TIL my local library in Springfield has a 'no shame' question box in the lobby

I was dropping off some books last week and saw a small wooden box with a sign that said 'Ask anything here, we'll find the answer'. The librarian told me they get questions ranging from how to fix a leaky faucet to explaining quantum physics in simple terms. Do you think more places should have something like this for people who are too shy to ask out loud?

That's actually a genius idea, libraries should just run the world lol. It's a low pressure way for people to get help without feeling dumb. More places need to embrace the anonymous question box.

The other thing people are missing is how these boxes can actually catch community issues before they blow up. Like someone might drop a note about a broken streetlight or a dangerous crosswalk that nobody officially reported. Libraries are central hubs where people naturally hang out, so it makes sense to use them for stuff like that. Plus it takes zero effort compared to filing a formal complaint online. It turns the library into a real neighborhood listening post without making it feel official or bureaucratic. That's pretty smart if you ask me.

Seriously? It's a nice box but come on, @hannahw30. Libraries running the world is a bit much. It's just a box for random questions, not some huge social fix. Most people just google stuff now anyway. I guess it's fine for shy folks but making it sound like a big deal feels over the top. It's a box, not a revolution.
