Warning: That free plant ID app sent me to poison ivy three times in Tulsa

I kept trusting the app's leaf match and grabbed what it said was wild blackberry. Turns out it was poison ivy, and I ended up with a rash on both forearms for 2 weeks. The app said 98% confidence each time, which got me thinking, how do these free apps actually train their data? Has anyone else gotten bad IDs from them, or is there a reliable free alternative that won't wreck my skin?

Leafsnap's decent, but cross-check every call with the iNaturalist Seek app before touching anything.
