Rant: my $18 lens heater strap died at 2am and killed a 4 hour shot of Orion
Drove out to a dark site near Cedarville last Friday because the forecast showed clear skies for once. Set up my rig around 9pm, got Orion framed up nice, and let it run while I sat in the car. At 2am I checked the camera and the whole lens was fogged over, turned out the dew heater strap shorted out and I didn't notice because the little red light still came on. Lost almost 4 hours of subs to one dead $18 strap, so now I'm wondering if anyone runs two heaters as backup or just tapes hand warmers to the lens.
