Showerthought: I used a cheap red filter on my camera for the moon and got a weirdly sharp shot

I grabbed a basic Hoya R25 filter for my old DSLR, mostly to cut through some haze. Pointed it at the moon from my backyard in Phoenix and the craters looked way more defined than usual, almost like a topo map. Anyone know if this is just a fluke or if red filters are actually good for lunar detail?

Yeah, red filters can really cut through atmospheric junk... got my sharpest moon shot that way too.

Is that the trick where you stack filters for different wavelengths?

Nice! My best moon shot is still a blurry potato. Maybe I need to try that.
