TIL my cheap tripod was the reason my Andromeda shots were blurry
I spent a whole weekend trying to get a clear picture of the Andromeda Galaxy from my backyard in Tucson, but everything was a fuzzy mess. It took me three nights to figure out my basic $40 tripod was wobbling in the light desert wind, ruining every long exposure. Has anyone else had to upgrade their tripod for astro photos, and what did you get?

@elliotadams nailed it cheap tripods are basically wind chimes waiting to happen.

Heard about a buddy who fought the same battle with a flimsy tripod... ended up getting one of those beefy carbon fiber ones after a week of blurry star trails. Says it was a total game changer for his deep sky stuff.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way too. My first tripod was basically a strong breeze away from becoming a modern art piece.
