Unpopular opinion: my old DSLR with a cheap tracker beats my new phone for deep sky shots every time.

After trying both for six months, the 30-second tracked exposures from my basic setup consistently capture more nebula detail than any phone's computational stacking, which just can't gather enough light.

Watched my buddy's phone shot get blown away by his dad's old tracked camera last week.

Sure, the old gear gets you more detail if you have the time and know-how... but lugging that stuff out and setting it up is a pain. My phone fits in my pocket and can stack a decent shot of Orion's Belt in two minutes flat while I'm just standing there. For most people, that quick and easy result is way more fun than messing with trackers and editing raw files for hours.

My old DSLR still beats any phone shot.
