Went to Cherry Springs State Park last month and the light pollution there is surprisingly low

I finally made the drive out to Cherry Springs State Park in Pennsylvania last month since it's supposed to be one of the darkest spots on the East Coast. The Milky Way was so clear I could see it with just my eyes, no camera needed. Have any of you been to a dark sky park and noticed a big difference from your usual spot?

Oh man, I used to think all parks were pretty much the same for stargazing but Cherry Springs completely proved me wrong.

Brought a telescope out there last fall and ended up just staring at the stars with my naked eyes the whole time because the view was that good lol.

I mean maybe it's just me but you really gotta check the moon phase before you go. I drove all the way up there during a full moon once and couldn't see crap, the sky was totally washed out. The difference between a new moon night and a quarter moon is honestly huge out there. Also bring a red flashlight so your eyes stay adjusted, I learned that one the hard way after stumbling around for twenty minutes.
