Why does nobody talk about how overrated those widefield Milky Way photos are
I know everyone loves those giant sweeping shots of the whole Milky Way arch. But last month I spent 3 hours trying to get one and my neighbor who shoots planetary stuff told me to just focus on a single nebula instead. At first I thought he was crazy because those wide shots get all the likes online. But after I tried his advice I got a detailed image of the Orion Nebula that actually showed gas clouds and structure. Has anyone else found that zooming in gives better results than the popular wide angle approach?

And wait, you actually got a good Orion Nebula shot after just trying that once? Honestly that's insane to me because I've been wasting hours on those wide Milky Way shots and getting nothing but a blurry mess. Tbh I always thought planetary guys were just gatekeeping but maybe they actually know what they're talking about.

Yeah the wide angle stuff gets all the likes but you lose so much detail (like those gas clouds you mentioned).
