Clear coat on plastic trim is a waste of everyone's time
I've been doing this for 12 years in the Phoenix heat, and I keep seeing guys at the shop next door spraying clear over plastic rocker panels. It never holds. Last month a customer came back with peeling on a 2022 Colorado I didn't even touch, the other shop charged him $400 extra for that clear. I mask it off, scuff it, and leave the plastic bare. Looks factory and lasts. Why are we still pretending clear coat bonds to TPO? Anyone else set that boundary with customers upfront?

Clear coat's the only thing keeping that plastic from turning chalky gray in three months.
