Debate: Should we quote parts + labor separate or give one price?
I had this guy last Tuesday at my shop in Miami, he insisted I break down every line item on his 2018 Accord. Said it felt shady to lump it all together like I was hiding something. But my old mentor always said one price is cleaner and customers don't nitpick the hours. Which way do you guys handle it for bigger jobs? I'm torn on what's actually better for everyone.

Stick with one price for the whole job, but write a simple estimate that lists the big stuff like parts and labor as two separate totals without breaking it down further. Most customers just want to know the bottom line and it saves you from arguing about whether a brake job really took three hours. That guy in Miami was the exception, not the rule.

Makes you wonder if some customers just don't have enough going on in their lives... gotta find something to nitpick about.
