Finally tried the PPG waterborne over the old solvent system I used for years

I had a 2018 Honda Accord in silver metallic last week and decided to give PPG Envirobase a shot instead of my usual solvent. The color match was spot on and the blending was way smoother with way less hassle. Has anyone else switched to waterborne and found it's actually faster for repair work?

Heard this exact story from my buddy Dan who runs a small body shop on the south side, he switched to waterborne last year and said it cut his repaint time by almost half because the blending just melts in without all the extra steps. He was skeptical at first (big time solvent guy for 20 years) but now he swears he'll never go back. Way less cleanup too, which is a bonus he didn't expect.

Hold up, half the time? That's a pretty huge claim. I've heard waterborne is easier for blending but I've also heard you have to be way more careful with your gun settings and air pressure or you get fisheyes or blotches. My old school painter buddy tried it a few years back and said he was fighting with it every single day, went right back to solvent. Maybe the new stuff is that much better but I'd have to see it with my own eyes to believe it cuts time in half.
