Found a way to fix a rotted rocker panel with zip ties and a plastic sign
Dropped a car off last week with a rocker panel that was basically gone, customer wanted the cheapest patch job possible. I was about to just weld in some tin but the shop manager saw me and tossed me a big plastic street sign from the dumpster. We cut it to shape, zip tied it over the rust hole, and slapped on some bondo. Dried solid and you can't even tell from 5 feet away. Anyone else ever use random junk like that for a quick patch?

A big plastic street sign from the dumpster"? Yo, that's some next level redneck engineering right there, I can't even.

Seen some guys do wild stuff with those street signs. Heard a story about a fella who used one to patch a hole in his boat, worked like a charm until the rivets gave out. Another buddy of mine took a stop sign and turned it into a target for his shooting range, said it lasted longer than the store bought ones. Plastic signs are tough as nails, but they've gotta be the right kind, not the flimsy orange construction ones. Bet that dumpster sign could hold up a shed roof or something if you bolted it down right. Ever see anyone try to use one for something that actually caught fire?
