Had a customer argue with me for 10 minutes about a dent that was clearly there before we touched it

Guy with a 2018 Camry swore up and down we put a crease in his rear quarter panel. I pulled up the timestamped photo from his check-in and zoomed in on the exact same mark. Some people just refuse to look at the evidence right in front of them. Anybody else deal with customers who won't back down even when you show them proof?

Yeah, 'some people just refuse to look at the evidence right in front of them' - that part hits hard. I read somewhere that when people are wrong about something they already decided, their brain actually blocks out new info that proves them wrong. It's like a mental wall. So showing them a timestamped photo, a video, whatever, their brain just skips right past it and clings to the story they already made up. Makes you wonder if these folks even trust their own eyes or if they're just wired to fight back. Deal with it enough and you start to see the pattern.

You ever see a guy argue with a stop sign? I had a buddy who spent 20 minutes trying to convince someone the moon landing was fake, then when they showed him a rock from Apollo, he just said "they made that too" and walked off.

Oh man, I hear you loud and clear on that. It's like talking to a brick wall that's been programmed to argue back, even when you are holding the receipt in your hand (or the rock, in Jake's buddy's case). I swear, some people would rather believe a comforting lie than face an uncomfortable truth, and it just wears you down after a while. You start to wonder if they're even living in the same reality as the rest of us, you know? Solidarity, friend. You're not alone in seeing that pattern.
