Had a customer in Phoenix ask me why I didn't just 'paint over the rust' on his truck door
Guy pulls into the shop last Tuesday with a 2012 F-150. The rocker panel is basically swiss cheese from Arizona road salt and dirt. He watches me tap around it with a screwdriver for a minute, then says 'can't you just hit it with some spray paint and call it good?' I showed him the hole going through to the inside and he still seemed annoyed I quoted him $800 for the patch and blend. Has anyone else dealt with customers who think rust is just a cosmetic thing?

oh man that comment from taylor_hayes25 "Arizona road salt?" really got me. i mean i totally get the confusion, it sounds wild right? but yeah they actually do salt roads here in northern Arizona when it snows or gets icy. it's not like Phoenix or anything but up in Flagstaff and places like that we get real winter weather. i've driven on those roads before and honestly it's no joke, the black ice is scary. i'm just saying, even in the desert the higher elevations have their own challenges.

I mean it's not like we're dealing with blizzards here, seems a bit dramatic.
