Heard a body shop owner say something that made me rethink my shop layout

Last week at a meetup in Phoenix, this old-timer goes 'your paint booth should be the last place air touches before it leaves the building.' I'd been running my booth near the back door with all the dust from the sanding bay blowing right in. Spent Saturday rearranging three work stations and moved my compressor closer to the intake. Anyone else ever realize your shop's airflow is working against you?

So did moving the compressor help with the dust issue or just the airflow?

My old shop had the compressor in a closet and I figured that was fine. Then I moved it to a different corner with a service loop of hose and the dust buildup on the intake filter dropped by like 60 percent. The airflow actually got better too since the intake wasn't sucking in all the fine grit from sanding. I used to think it was just a preference thing but now I'm a believer.
