My switch to stud welders for dent pulling in the rust belt
I used to drill holes in every panel to pull dents, which meant lots of plug welding and filler later. About 3 years ago I finally bought a decent stud welder for $150 and started using it on jobs in Cleveland where salt eats everything. It cuts my repair time on a typical door dent from 2 hours down to maybe 45 minutes, and I don't have to worry about burn-through as much on thin metal. The trick is keeping the tip clean and using short pulses, especially on cold days when the metal is stiff. Has anyone else made the jump and found certain panels where you still prefer the old way?

Feels you man, salt belt rust makes every panel a gamble.
