Rant: one dented quarter panel ate my whole Saturday because of a bolt I couldn't see
Ngl, I took a simple rear quarter job on a 2016 Civic last Saturday thinking it was a 3 hour fix. The panel was hiding a bolt behind the inner wheel liner that was rusted solid, so my impact just rounded the head right off. Took me 5 hours of drilling, a trip to Ace for a $4 extractor kit, and a heat gun before it finally let go. By then it was 7pm and my pizza was cold. Anyone got a trick for finding hidden fasteners before you start pulling panels, or do you just eat the time like I did?
Sounds like that bolt was doing its best to ruin your whole weekend, not just your Saturday. Next time just wave a heat gun at it first and hope it gives up before you do.
