Showerthought: that $300 infrared thermometer saved my butt on a hail job
I was blending a quarter panel and kept getting solvent pop, couldn't figure out why. Pointed the thermometer at the filler and realized the shop lights were baking it way faster than I thought. Anyone else use one for checking panel temps before clear?

Makes you realize how many problems just come from heat.

Ever have that happen with a primer? Mine was cooking under the booth lights too... @rowanellis is right, heat just messes everything up. Grabbed one of those guns and it made a huge difference.

Yeah, the booth lights are brutal. I had a can of primer start to skin over in minutes once, left a texture like orange peel. Ruined the whole coat. Now I keep a cheap thermometer in the booth and watch it like a hawk. That little gun Rowan mentioned is a lifesaver for keeping the temp down.
