That $600 paint booth fan was a total waste

I kept hearing people say you gotta drop serious cash on a high CFM fan for your home booth. So I bought this big unit off a supply house website for about $600 thinking it would solve all my overspray problems. Two months in and the motor started rattling like crazy, plus it didn't pull enough air through my filters anyway. My buddy uses a $150 furnace blower he rigged up with a dryer vent and his finishes come out cleaner than mine. Anyone else try the cheap DIY route and get better results than the expensive gear?

Bought a cheapo bathroom vent fan for $40 at a salvage place and hooked it up to a 4 inch dryer duct with a furnace filter taped to the front. Thing has been running nonstop for three years without a peep from the motor, and I just swap the filter every few months. My neighbor spent like $800 on a commercial spray booth setup and his stuff has more dust nibs in it than mine ever did. Makes you wonder why we all think expensive equals better sometimes, right?

Didn't someone online test cheap box fans against expensive air purifiers?

THREE YEARS nonstop on a $40 fan from a salvage place? That's INSANE, I woulda bet money that thing would burn out in six months tops.
