The guy who told me to stop wetsanding with 2000 grit was right all along
A buddy at the shop kept saying I was wasting time and money using 2000 grit for wetsanding clear coat. He said drop to 1500 and finish with a good compound instead. I argued with him for months until I tried it on a '22 Honda Accord hood last Wednesday. Cut my sanding time by 40% and the final buff had way less haze. Has anyone else found that going coarser actually saves work?

1500 grit changed my whole game. Less elbow grease, better finish.

Gotta disagree. 1200 is where it's at for most work. Going to 1500 just makes the clear coat look cloudy unless you're doing a full polish after. Tried it on my truck's tailgate once. Ended up having to hit it with compound again because the finish just looked hazy in the sun.
