Tried a new clear coat on a '98 F-150 job last week

Sprayed it on a test panel first, looked good. On the actual truck, it started to orange peel like crazy after the second coat. Had to sand the whole quarter panel back down. Anyone know a good clear for older single-stage paint jobs?

What clear did you use? I swore by one brand for years until this same thing happened to me.

Swore by one brand for years" is the worst feeling, @caleb_stone. It's like your whole routine gets wrecked out of nowhere. Makes you scared to trust anything now lol.

Ugh that orange peel nightmare is the worst. Been there with older paint, it just reacts weird sometimes. Switched to a different brand last year and it's been solid. Try the stuff from the place with the red and white cans, works way better on single stage.
