Vent: PPG vs Sherwin-Williams clear coat - one of them is junk
I've been spraying for about 8 years now. Used PPG clear for most of that time because that's what the shop I started at used. Then last year I did a side job with Sherwin-Williams clear that I got from a buddy who swears by it. Tried it on a 2018 Ford F-150 rear panel. Applied it just like I always do, same gun, same settings. That clear looked like crap after 4 months. Orange peel came back, started hazing around the edges. Brought the truck back and had to reshoot it with PPG. Customer was pissed. I get that SW is cheaper per gallon but has anyone else had this kind of problem with their clear not holding up? Or did I get a bad batch?

Man, sounds like you got the Sherwin-Williams "special" where it looks good until you actually need it to work. I always figured the price difference had to come from somewhere, guess that somewhere is your customer's truck.
