Can we talk about the broker who quoted me $650 and then the driver wanted $1,100 in Barstow?
So I booked a transport for my son's Civic from Sacramento to Phoenix about 3 weeks ago, and the broker quoted me $650 with a pickup window of 2 days. Five days went by with no call, then a driver finally shows up and tells me the price is $1,100 or he leaves it on the street. I paid it because my son needed the car for work, but the broker never answered another call or email from me. I checked later and the broker has no MC number listed anywhere I can find, which I should have looked at before paying a deposit. The whole thing took 11 days door to door when they promised 4. Has anyone actually gotten money back from a broker like this, or is that just gone once they have your card?
Same thing happened to my brother with a truck from Reno, quoted $700, driver showed up in Bakersfield wanting $1,250 cash. Those fake brokers know you're stuck once the car is on the truck, so they just squeeze you. Getting your money back is almost impossible since they hide behind fake numbers and there's no MC to report them to.
