Found out my car hauler only carries 9 cars when I always pictured a lot more
I was reading a driver's blog after booking a run from Ohio to Arizona and he said most open trailers max out at 9 vehicles. That number felt small to me since I pictured a rolling parking lot. Has anyone else been surprised by how few cars fit on one truck?
Nine is pretty much the standard for those big open carriers, sometimes you see ten if they squeeze them tight. The guys that run those rigs get real good at packing them in, front car noses down low, some backed on ramps over the cab, it looks like a mess until you see it done right. What surprised me more was the cost side, one truck hauling nine cars still needs a full load before it moves, so if you're the only car booked you either wait or pay for the empty spots. That's why booking early helps, you slide into a run that's already filling up.
