Paid $140 to ship a car from Phoenix to Albuquerque and the driver called me 6 times before pickup
I needed my old Civic moved about 420 miles last spring and got two totally different quotes. One broker wanted $650 and promised a covered truck with a 2 day window, the other guy said $140 cash and would grab it whenever he had space. I went cheap because the car barely runs and honestly I figured worst case it sits a week. He picked it up 9 days late but it showed up in one piece with no new scratches, so part of me thinks the cheap route was fine. My neighbor swears the $140 thing is how you get your car dumped in a lot in Kingman with a busted window. So which is it, do you pay up front for the fancy broker or gamble on the guy with a trailer and a flip phone? Curious what actually burned people here and what just felt scary but worked out.
