Overheard a pilot at the FBO in Dallas say 'the box just fixes itself' about a comms glitch.
That kind of attitude is why I spent 6 hours last week tracing a single corroded pin in a D-sub connector that 'should have been fine' after a software reload.

Our old Cessna 172 had a transponder that "fixed itself" three times before I found a cracked solder joint behind the panel.

Maybe, but sometimes a quick power cycle actually does clear a weird lock-up.

I read a story about a satellite ground station in Alaska. Their main dish would lose signal every Tuesday at 10 AM sharp. They did full reboots for months. Turns out a cleaning lady's vacuum cleaner was plugged into the same circuit. The motor surge was enough to glitch the system. A simple power cycle worked, but it never fixed the real problem.
