Shoutout to the old Fluke 87 I found in a box of scrap parts

I was cleaning out the back room and found this beat up meter. Figured it was junk, but on a whim I swapped in a new fuse and a 9V battery. Fired right up and its DC accuracy is still spot on against our shop standard. I learned not to write off old gear just by its looks. Anyone have a good source for replacement test leads for these older models?

That's the best kind of find, when the old stuff just works. My shop's daily driver is an 87 from the 90s that looks like it went through a war. Those things are basically indestructible if the display is still good. For leads, I've had good luck with the basic Pomona replacements, they fit the old jacks right and don't feel cheap. Just avoid the no-name junk on auction sites, the tips never fit snug.

Sounds like your multimeter's been through more than my last relationship.
