TIL the wire bundle I zip tied tight for 8 months is exactly why my connector pins kept fretting
I used to bundle every harness tight and neat because that is how the last shop in Wichita trained me, and for 8 months my pin retention checks on the same LRU kept coming back marginal. Then a guy from the OEM came through in March and pointed at my ties, told me vibration has nowhere to go when you lash everything solid, so the pins eat it instead. I re-did two racks with proper standoffs and a little slack at the bends, and my recheck interval on those connectors went from 30 days to 90 with no pullouts. Still not sold on loose dressing everywhere, but I am done cranking ties down on anything near a high-vibe zone. Anybody got a rule for where you leave slack versus where you clamp hard?
