Vent: The time I fried a $400 radio harness at DFW hangar
I was working on a CRJ900 at the DFW hangar last Tuesday. Got in a hurry and didn't check the pinout on a new comm radio harness. Plugged it in and saw smoke within 3 seconds. The whole harness was toast. Shop foreman just looked at me and said 'read the manual next time kid'. Now I triple check every pin configuration before I connect anything. Has anyone else made a dumb mistake like that on a hurry job?

Faithwalker's right about photos I knew a friend who blew out a $600 power supply at Love Field and didn't have a pic for training.

Hey, did you at least take a photo of the smoked harness before you tossed it? That's the kind of thing you show the new guys for years. I've been doing avionics for over a decade and I still caught myself about to plug a 28v radio into a 115v socket last month. The manual is your friend but so is a second set of eyes. I always have another guy glance at my work now before I throw power to it.
