Went to the Oshkosh airshow last weekend and couldn't stop staring at the wiring looms in the vintage planes

Some of those old birds from the 1940s had lacing tape so perfect it looked like a basket weave, made me wonder if modern techs are losing that kind of patience with zip ties, has anyone else noticed the difference between old and new harness work?

It's not just airplanes either. I see the same thing in old houses and vintage cars, everything used to be built with this slow, deliberate care that you just don't find anymore. People took pride in making something that looked good even if nobody was ever gonna see it. Modern stuff is all about speed and cost cutting, get it done fast and move on to the next job. There's a real loss there, trades used to be almost like an art form and now it's just production line thinking. Makes you wonder what else we're rushing through without even realizing it.

Yeah Ryan, you really hit the nail on the head there. That hidden craftsmanship in old houses especially gets me, like finding handwritten dates on beams or perfectly dovetailed joints that nobody will ever see. It's sad how that kind of pride in the work itself has just been traded for speed and profit.

Nah, you're not wrong. Zip ties are quick and all but they just don't have that same handcrafted feel.
