Debate: Is it better to host Thanksgiving potluck style or have one person cook everything?
My family has been fighting over this for years lol. Last year my aunt insisted on doing potluck and my cousin brought a burnt green bean casserole that tasted like ash. But the year before, my mom cooked everything solo and she was stressed out crying by 3pm. I swear potluck spreads the blame but my grandma thinks it's lazy. Which side do you guys fall on and has anyone found a middle ground that actually works?

My cousin literally brought a store bought pie with the price sticker still on it last potluck, so I feel your pain on that burnt casserole. Honestly the middle ground that saved my family was a hybrid where the host does the turkey and mashed potatoes, and everyone signs up for specific sides (no surprise dishes). It keeps the stress down because the host isn't doing everything, but you also don't end up with mystery food from someone who can't cook.

Heard this whole debate broken down on a food podcast last week - turns out a lot of pro chefs actually prefer the hybrid approach. @loganl22 nailed it with the sign up sheet idea, keeps everyone from showing up with five pumpkin pies and no vegetables.
