My aunt's new boyfriend tried to fix our sink at Thanksgiving and flooded the kitchen

This happened last Thursday, right before we were supposed to eat. He said he 'knew a thing or two about plumbing' and went under the sink with a wrench. Ten minutes later, water was spraying everywhere and we had to shut off the main valve. The whole downstairs carpet got soaked, and dinner was delayed by like two hours while we mopped up. I mean, who does that at someone else's house without asking? Has anyone else had a family guest cause a literal disaster trying to be helpful?

Feel for you, that sounds like a total nightmare. My cousin once tried to be the grill master and nearly set the deck on fire.
