My dad's retirement party almost went off the rails until I found a simple trick
Last Thanksgiving my dad announced his retirement and my aunt wanted to do a slideshow. Problem was she had 400 photos from the last 40 years and nobody wanted to sit through all that. I suggested we pick just 20 photos and have everyone vote on them before the party. We spent 15 minutes on a group text and ended up with a 4 minute slideshow that actually made people laugh instead of yawn. The before and after was night and day. Has anyone else tried limiting family slideshows or presentations to a short time frame?

That 20 photo limit trick is smart because people always overestimate how long attention spans last. My buddy tried to do a 10 minute highlight reel from his fishing trip and by minute three everyone was checking their phones. Sometimes less really is more when it comes to stuff like this.

Saw a study saying attention spans max out at five minutes for family slideshows.

Did the study also say that's five minutes per picture? Because some of those vacation slideshows feel like they last forever.
