My mom's famous Thanksgiving turkey took 5 hours because the oven died at 2pm
We ended up eating at 8pm and my aunt kept asking if anyone smelled gas. Now we just do a potluck at my cousin's place in Rochester and nobody has to stress about the oven. Does anyone else's family switch up the whole holiday setup after one disaster?
Did your aunt ever find out what that smell was? Our big switch happened after my dad tried to deep fry a turkey in the driveway and the grease caught fire. My uncle put it out with a hose while my mom stood there holding a pie plate like a shield. Now we just do ham at my sister's house and everyone is way happier.
