My uncle brought a new girlfriend to Easter and it went about as well as you'd think

So this year, my uncle showed up with his new girlfriend, Sarah, who he'd only been dating for like three weeks. He decided the best way to introduce her was to have her sit at the kids' table with my teenage cousins, which was awkward enough. Then, my grandma, who is 84 and doesn't filter anything, asked her point blank over the ham, 'So, are you the one who broke up his last marriage?' The whole room went dead silent for a solid ten seconds. Sarah just stared at her plate, my uncle turned bright red, and my mom tried to change the subject by loudly asking who wanted more potatoes. It was the most tense holiday meal I can remember. Has anyone else had a new partner get absolutely grilled by a blunt family member right away?

My aunt once asked my date if his beard was real before we even sat down.

Imagine my uncle poking my boyfriend's arm at Thanksgiving to ask if he lifts weights. @alicew68, some relatives have zero filter and it's both awful and kind of funny. They skip all the normal small talk and go straight for the weird personal checks. Makes you want to hide in the bathroom forever.

My friend's dad asked her boyfriend if he could fix a sink.
