Stumbled onto the fact that my aunt has been hosting 18 people in a 900 sq ft house for 12 years
I was helping my aunt clean out her pantry last weekend and found old photo albums from 2012... and realized every single Thanksgiving and Christmas has been crammed into that tiny living room. She never said a word about it, just kept piling chairs from the garage. I did the math and that's 24 gatherings in that tight space with the same folding table she got on sale at Target. How has no one in my family ever offered to host or even noticed? Has anyone else had a relative quietly suffering through hosting without asking for help?

Right, because who needs a dining room when you can just master the art of human Tetris in a 900 square foot house for over a decade? At this point your aunt probably has the seating chart memorized and could shove everyone in there with her eyes closed. Sounds like your family collectively agreed 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' and nobody noticed the 'broke' part was your aunt's back and her entire social life. Maybe she's been secretly hoping someone would speak up, or she's just waiting for the house to finally sigh and give up.

Gotta agree with @terry_thomas, your aunt deserves a break from all that.
