Thanksgiving gravy disaster turned into a family roast session
Last Thanksgiving at my aunt's house in Toledo, I tried to salvage the lumpy gravy by whisking in cold water like a video told me. It turned into this weird, watery soup that my cousin Tim called 'sad gravy juice' in front of everyone. The whole table cracked up, and now every year someone brings up 'Abby's gravy juice' as a joke. Has anyone else had a cooking fail become a family meme like that?

@carr.gavin makes a good point about these moments sometimes just stinging more than they entertain.

Man that's rough but honestly those roasting moments become the best memories. Last Christmas I tried making my grandma's famous stuffing from memory and forgot the sage completely, everyone called it 'cardboard surprise' for the rest of the night. Now my brother brings a bag of sage to every family dinner just to mess with me, it's basically tradition at this point.

See, I actually kinda disagree with this take. Not every bad cooking moment becomes a funny memory, sometimes it's just a real bummer that makes you feel like you let everyone down. There's a difference between a harmless mistake (like missing sage) and something that genuinely ruins a meal.
