That $200 gift basket I bought for Christmas dinner turned into a disaster
Last year I thought I'd be the hero of the family gathering by bringing a fancy $200 gift basket from a local shop in Denver. It had all these gourmet cheeses, crackers, truffle oil, and even a bottle of wine. Well, I didn't check the expiration dates before I handed it over to my aunt. Turns out the cheese was already moldy and the wine had corked. My cousin pointed it out loud during dinner and everyone stared at me like I was cheap. I felt so dumb for not looking at the labels first. Has anyone else bought a pricey gift that totally backfired on them during a holiday party?

That happened to me too, so now I always check dates before handing anything over.

Now I'm the annoying person at checkout squinting at every expiration date like I'm reading fine print. Had one incident where I grabbed a carton of milk that expired the same day, didn't notice until I poured it on my cereal the next morning. So yeah, I've become that guy who rotates products in the fridge too, moving the older stuff to the front.

The same day expiration is rough man... I once grabbed a yogurt that expired two days before and didn't notice until I was halfway through it. Spent the whole morning paranoid I was gonna get sick, kept staring at the trash can like it was gonna tell me if I messed up. Now I'm the weirdo at the store turning every carton around like I'm inspecting artwork or something.
