The Christmas dinner where my aunt served a raw turkey and blamed the oven
It was two years ago at my aunt's house in Cleveland. She pulled that bird out at 4 PM and the inside was still cold and pink. She stood there saying the oven must be broken but I saw the temperature dial was set to 250. Everyone just sat there for 45 minutes while she tried to microwave parts of it. Has anyone else had a relative refuse to admit they messed up the cooking?

@patricia_green21 I once showed up to Thanksgiving with my own frozen pizza in my purse, so I get it.

...and the worst part is my aunt didn't even have a backup plan. I've been there, honestly. My sister's turkey turned into jerky once because she forgot to take the giblet bag out, and she swore the oven ran hot for two years until she finally bought a thermometer that proved her wrong. My advice is to always have a meat thermometer in your bag when you go to someone else's house, just in case. You can say "oh I just like to check" and it saves the whole meal without making anyone the bad guy, you know?

Always thought a thermometer was overkill until my brother in law dry rubbed a pork shoulder with brown sugar and it came out looking like charcoal. Took me three ruined briskets before I swallowed my pride and bought one. Now I keep a backup in my glovebox right next to the registration.
