Update: I hit 27 minutes of silence at my aunt's house after she asked about my dating life.

It mattered because I realized my family's idea of a 'good milestone' is just me being in a relationship, not the fact I've been happily single and debt-free for three years now, which feels like a bigger win to me. Anyone else have a family that celebrates the wrong kind of number for you?

Twenty seven minutes of silence is a record for sure. They really think being in a relationship is the only win. Being debt-free for three years is way more impressive.

Yeah valw36, hitting three years with no debt felt like a real weight off my shoulders. I just focused on one bill at a time, it wasn't fast but it worked.

Totally agree, it's a huge win. Like felix824 said, just chipping away at one thing. People don't see the grind behind it. That kind of freedom beats a quiet dinner any day. Real success is building a life that doesn't stress you out over money.
