Can we talk about the guy who took me to a fast food drive thru for a first date?

I matched with this dude on Hinge and he seemed normal, we chatted for a week. He picked me up and drove straight to the McDonald's drive thru in Phoenix, ordered just a McFlurry for himself and nothing for me. He then parked in the lot and ate it while talking about his crypto portfolio for 45 minutes. Has anyone else dealt with someone who didn't even offer to buy you a single thing?

Read an article once that said first dates should be low pressure but this is just cheap. The McFlurry thing is bad enough but not even asking if you wanted anything feels like a power move or something. Crypto talk in a McDonald's parking lot sounds like a red flag wrapped in a sad little ice cream cone.

Johnflores is right, suggesting a walk or pay-as-you-go coffee removes all that weird money tension. A drive thru date where they don't even offer you anything is just a lesson in what not to accept.

That line about "a red flag wrapped in a sad little ice cream cone" hit the nail on the head. I had a similar thing happen where a guy took me to a coffee shop but only bought himself a drink and sat there sipping it while I just watched. I learned my lesson the hard way. Now I always suggest meeting for a walk at a park or a cheap coffee place where we each pay for our own stuff. That way nobody feels weird about money and you can actually talk without the pressure of a drive thru. You dodged more than just a bad McFlurry date.
