Ex told me to never text back same day, lost a good one because of it
My ex swore up and down that waiting 24 hours to reply made people chase you, so I tried it on a guy from Hinge who asked me to dinner. He waited two days, figured I wasn't into it, and took someone else out that Saturday. Anyone else had advice backfire like that?

The part about him asking you to dinner is what gets me. When a guy actually plans a date, a slow reply doesn't read as mysterious, it reads as a no. Women hear "play hard to get" from friends and magazines, but nobody warns you that men get told the exact opposite, so a guy who is serious just moves on to whoever says yes first.
