I always thought 'love languages' were just pop psychology fluff until a date last month where the guy spent the whole 2 hours complaining about his ex's 'acts of service' and never asked me a single question.
Has anyone else had a concept from dating advice thrown back at them in a really weird or negative way on a date?

That's a perfect example of someone using a decent concept as a weapon. It's a red flag when someone uses therapy talk to justify their own bad behavior. You just dodged a very tedious bullet.

Spot on about the therapy talk weapon thing. I had a friend who would pull that all the time, turning every argument into me not respecting their "boundaries" when they were just being selfish. It gets so old so fast. You end up walking on eggshells because they've got a clinical term for why you're wrong to be upset. Good on you for seeing it and stepping back. That stuff is exhausting to deal with.

Yeah, "therapy talk as a weapon" is exactly it. Turns a good idea into a shield for bad manners. That date sounds like a real chore.
