I realized I've been on exactly 100 first dates
It hit me last week when I was updating my old journal. I counted them all up, from the guy who showed me his stamp collection for two hours to the one who brought his mom. That number felt huge, like a weird life achievement I never wanted. It made me think about how dating felt ten years ago, more hopeful and less like a chore. Now it just feels like a numbers game I'm tired of playing. Anyone else get to a number that made them stop and think?

My friend hit 75 dates and just bought a cat. It feels like a lot of people are hitting that wall where the fun is gone. The whole process starts to feel like a second job you don't get paid for.

My friend hit 50 dates and actually got a dog, not a cat. She said the dog was less work than setting up another coffee meetup. Honestly, that number thing is real though. After my own count got high, I had to just delete the apps for a whole season. It stopped being about meeting someone and just felt like checking a box.
