Met a guy who spent the whole date mansplaining my own job to me at a bar in Austin

I work as a sous chef at a busy spot downtown. He asked what I do, I told him, and then he spent 45 minutes explaining how I should season my steaks. Like dude I literally do this 60 hours a week. Then he tried to kiss me at the end and acted shocked when I said no. Has anyone else had someone try to teach you about your actual career on a date?

The "season your steaks" thing is wild. I would have been tempted to ask him to demo his technique on a raw one. But seriously, next time just cut it off early and say "I appreciate the enthusiasm but I literally do this for a living, so I'm good." Saves you the 45 minute lecture. Some guys think they're being helpful when really they're just showing they can't read the room.

My friend Maria had this happen at a BBQ last summer. Some dude kept telling her she was salting her burgers wrong and she finally just handed him the spatula and said "okay show me then." He burned the first batch so bad the smoke alarm went off lol. He still tried to blame it on the grill being too hot. That whole "let me mansplain your job" vibe is exhausting especially when they dont know what theyre talking about.
