My buddy told me to stop being picky and I listened for one date
So my friend Mark kept telling me I was too picky about dating, that I was looking for flaws in everyone. I finally let him set me up with a woman from his work back in 2019. She showed up 45 minutes late to the coffee shop in Portland, spent the whole time talking about her ex boyfriend, and then asked me to cover her $8 latte. I never listened to Mark's advice again after that one. Has anyone else had a friend give them terrible dating advice that backfired?

Portland coffee shops are the worst place for a blind date, I swear. Mark set me up with a guy from his gym once and he spent the whole time critiquing my parenting because I let my kid have a juice box. Some friends just don't get it.

Man, that's rough. I swear half the people in this city treat a juice box like you handed the kid a cigarette.

So @norag66, did this guy actually have kids himself, or was he just one of those people who thinks they know everything about parenting because they read a blog once? I'm asking because my sister's friend Sarah went on a blind date with a guy who spent twenty minutes lecturing her about her dog's diet, and she doesn't even have a dog. He was vegan and just assumed she must be feeding her imaginary dog the wrong food. Portland is full of people who will judge your juice box choices like it's a moral failing, and honestly, I'd rather drink that juice box alone than listen to someone critique my grocery list.
