My date brought his mom to a dinner and I had to get creative

So I met this guy on an app and we agreed on a casual dinner at a pizza place downtown. He shows up with his mom, who apparently 'wanted to make sure I was nice'. I was stuck there for like 45 minutes while she asked about my family and job plans. I excused myself to the bathroom and texted my friend to call me with a fake emergency. I came back looking super worried and said my roommate's cat was stuck in the dryer. It worked and I got out of there. Anyone else had to pull a fake emergency exit on a date?

Had a guy bring his dog who wouldn't stop barking, so I faked a sudden allergy attack to get out.

Man, that sounds rough. Did the owner even try to calm the dog down? I've been in spots where the noise just gets to be too much. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to escape. Smart move with the allergy thing, seems like a clean exit.
